Interesting, great building underground downtown. Very informative. A little pricey but worth it if you like history and are interested in the use of gold in ancient times.

The objects in this museum are truly stunning and intricate. As well as the beautiful artefacts the museum sets out to tell how humans evolved from hunter gatherers into communities. The building is also a striking piece of architecture. Nice gift shop too!

Good summary on Pre-colombian history and gold exhibits set in a distinctive concrete inverted pyramid but getting a bit dated and could be more inter-active.

We were part of a group tour with our tour guide providing information at several of the areas. Impressive for all ages.

Great gold pieces and good descriptions of the history of Costa Rica. It was worth the money for the entrance fee

Cost (for non Costa Rican visitors) was $11 per person. Impressive collection in the gold exhibit, secured in bank vault system. Good signage in both Spanish and English so easy to understand the explanation for each showcase. Dioramas fit in well with culture explanation.

I learned a lot about the process and use of the gold that was made before the Europeans arrived. Intriguing! The temporary exhibit was beautiful and gave a lot of insight to the country's artists. The upper museum was closed which was disappointing!

The exhibits are well displayed. Clear explanations. Take your time, take your camera. You will be amazed at the history represented and the ability people had in the past.

It was very interesting to see. We were recommended it by a coworker and he was right. There was limited thing to see in San jose so this was one of the best things to do. It more about cold being part of their society instead gold jewellery.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. It is not just the gold that is fascinating, but the museum provides an excellent step-by-step chronological history of Costa Rica. The location of the museum (underground) is very convenient for tourists because it is right next to the National Theater.
