Gatun lake is between the Pacific and the Atlantic ocean. If you are crossing the Canal ocean to ocean you are going to cross and even go a bit around the lake. It has a big variety of animals:monkeys,crocodiles birds etc,but we really didn't see much.Not a must!

The historical signifance made this part of the draw but being on a small motor boat and seeing monkeys, crocodiles, sloth and some raccoon like animal was mesmerizing. Best day trip of all.

Stopped by the boat landing in Gambia and met a man named Rogelio that owns a boat and gives a two hour tour of the lake for $40/person or a 3 hour fishing trip with a stop at Monkey Island for $100 for 2 people. Great trip. About a 20+ minute ride up the canal, stopped by the island and the monkeys come for the peanuts, even jumping on to the roof of the boat. Then we fished and caught a number of Peacock bass and even a sea bass. Saw a crocodile and many birds. Highly recommended.

You get to go out on the canal in a boat and visit the jungle where you see many breeds of birds and monkeys, alligators and sloths.

Small boat with lots of wild life, Lots of fun. Worth the time. On a small boat you get to see Howler monkeys, capuchine monkeys, tamarin monkeys, crocodiles, sloths and all kind of birds. Just fascinating.

Our hotel was located in Gatun Lake so we were able to do some kayaking there. I hear the fishing is great as well

Went on the JungleLand tour. Went on Gatun Lake, part of the Canal, with the big freighters. Toured the Jungle by boat, fed monkeys, kayaked. Great trip!

We took a boat our of Gatun lake. We fed monkeys and then paddled through thick vegetation to a boat house where we had a pleasant lunch. After a swim, some of our group went fishing and we paddled to an area after which we hiked to a water falls. We jumped off, relaxed, had a cocktail, and paddled back.This is a huge lake which can support lots of activities.

A very pretty lake surrounded by green forest on both sides. It is a relaxing quiet cruise thru the lake.

I was able to ride over the beautiful lake on my way to the Gamboa Resort. It's one of the most beautiful experiences to see the lake during sunrise. I also enjoyed bird and monkey watching in a small boat along this great lake. Lastly, the views were astonishing as my group at a restaurant along the lake. This was a beautiful day. I highly recommend visiting if in Panama.
