I found the afternoons in March very hot in Chiang Mai and not conducive to walking around. So I spent 3 of these at Noina's.(It's cooler than the outdoors but there is no AC.) She makes it easy to play with charcoal, acrylic or watercolour; she supplies everything and gives the student enough space to play, yet is there to help if needed. You can bring an image of your own, use her samples or download something from the Internet to copy. Noina has a pretty laid back and hands off style of teaching which has been mentioned, so be aware... I finished a small charcoal of a Buddha in my first 3 hours, even though I felt unsure of what I was doing and was very happy with the end result.

I went to Noina's studio for 4 days during my stay in Chiang Mai and found it to be a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the company of like-minded people and to learn a new technique--charcoal painting. Noina is an excellent teacher who adapts to the needs of her students. She will sit with you and take you step by step through how to paint or draw if that is what you need or, for more experienced artists she sits back and watches and just adds comments or instruction when it is needed. She is very skilled artist herself but has the rare gift of being a very good teacher and knowing how to guid her students to make the art come alive. I will definitely set aside time to go there when I am next in Ciang Mai

I went in to sign up for classes, and ended up renting a room as well. The classes were great: very flexible, and Noina is an expert in bringing out your inner artist! The room was great too. For 300B/night I had a double bed, my own balcony, and a private bath. I felt very safe at Noina's. And her kitties were very loving, coming to visit me every day when I came home. The location is excellent as well.

Noina Art Studio was a great experience. We booked a 3 hour painting class which was enough time to produce a beautiful painting. Noina helped us pack the painting away safely for us to carry with us on our travels. Would recommend for a novice Good tip - Buy some nice handmade paper from the sunday market, great for painting on

Noina is a friendly and talented artists who showed me in a few hours some basics in pop art painting. I can recommend her to anybody who would like to improve their painting skills.

I was travelling in Thailand earlier this year and decided to come to Chiangmai mainly for these art classes because she got such good reviews and I was not disappointed. Noina is great to work with and usually there are only just a few other people drawing or painting so you can get a lot of attention.You can choose between drawing, acryl, oil paint etc.I used both acrylic and oil paints and was happy with the results. Sometimes she only gives a few words of advice but those words can change the whole painting for the better. I think the price she charges is fair. The only point of critique I have is that sometimes she wants to explain a point by painting it herself on your painting. But if you don t like that you can just tell her and then she can explain on a separate piece of paper. I rediscovered my confidence to paint at Noina's art studio. So if your aim is to start painting or drawing or to revive your love for making art yourself then I can recommend this place!

Noina is a kind and talented artist with a conveniently situated studio. She gives you the material and lets you do your own thing guiding you with technique and giving gentle opinion on options without cramping your own individual style. I really enjoyed my sessions in her studio and would recommend it as an alternative pastime . Suitable for children and adults of any age.

I took 15 hours class drawing a picture I brought myself.Noina made very good demos and explained me how to use the Chinese brushes in order to get nice transition from light to dark. Noina speaks very quite and the feeling in the studio is very good and calm. And she likes to laugh as we'll..I will recommend everybody to take few hours in this studio while traveling in the beautiful city of Chiang Mai.

My 12 daughter wanted to do an art class for her birthday. Noina was very patient with us. I did a acrylic painting and the others did sketching.For a novices she was very helpful and suggested ideas. Next time when I go I would allocate more time and have an idea of what to draw/paint. The session from 5 to 8pm was relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you Niona!

I had been in Chiang Mai for almost 2 weeks and on the last day I wanted to do something different so I checked trip advisor to see what was close and headed out to Noina's studio. I have never drawn or painted but the reviews were so good I figured I'd give it a shot anyways. I told Noina I wanted to do an elephant in acrylic but wanted it to have a modern take. She was there every step of the way with suggestions and guidelined( which I definitely needed). And when I got stuck , she would puts on the right path again. My elephant is no Picasso of course but it's special cause it's mine. It was a very relaxing afternoon . I recommend this for kids too, Noina's English is pretty good .Thank you Noina for helping me create the perfect souvenir!

I have always been an avid painter but kept my painting to watercolour or oil painting. After a long break in my artistic life, As a Chiang Mai resident and with time on my hands, I discovered Noina;s Studio and decided that it was time I took up the brush again. All my paintings were devoid of life. Noina helped me overcome my fear of the human form and encouraged me to take up another medium for my portfolio, Charcoal and the human form. I have thoroughly enjoyed being tutored by Noina, she is a very competent teacher and has endless patience with even the most amateur artist.
