Merriwa is a good stop if travelling from Dubbo to the Hunter Valley. Aside from the excellent bakery, RSL, pub and restaurants, a bit of time spent in the Historical Society is well worth the $2.00 entry fee. Mike the curator has lots of good information about times long gone. A period bedroom, womens' fashion, household and work items are aplenty in the society's rooms. Newspapers from the 1930's round off an image of a once busy town.
