When we were there the municipality did not recieve budget from the government to clean the city.Lots of rubbish ........But is the heard of the city. People meet there. Bars ,stools , artists playing music.The Cathedral is in this square.

My first visit to Merida was in 2009.So much has changed since then...Unfortunately Plaza Bolivar is now over run with rubbish. Litter and air quality are now serious problems in Merida.I hope things change for the better for the people of this city.

This is not the place to go if you want to see some incredible statue (It's just an average size statue of Bolivar on a horse), but this place is great to grab some coffee or arepas and sit in the shade to chat, relax and people watch. The university, which is all open to walk through, is on the west side of the plaza and a neat place to check out.

There's no attraction to see there. Maybe yo can go to say you went to a typical 'Plaza Bolivar' in Venezuela, but there's little more to do or see.

Siempre que voy a la ciudad de M¨¦rida me gusta caminar por el centro y la Plaza Bolivar es un lugar que visitar. Y aunque el deterioro es cada vez m¨¢s evidente, sigue siendo un hermoso espacio.

En compa?¨ªa femenina algunas veces, otras con amigos y otras en soledad...de fondo siempre las notas de la vieja canci¨®n: "fu¨¦ en la Plaza Bol¨ªvar meride?a donde so?¨¦ no dejarte de amar"

Anche a M¨¦rida la piazza centrale ¨¨ Plaza Bolivar.Circondata da una serie di banchetti, che vendono un po' di tutto, molto vicina alla cattedrale di M¨¦rida, siamo proprio nel cuore pi¨´ pulsante, nel centro.Uno dei punti che ho preferito della cittadina.Da vedere.

Excelente plaza c¨¦ntrica para compartir un momento de relax, al visitarla incluye la catedral que esta al frente el rectorado de la Universidad a 100 mts el museo arqueol¨®gico y la biblioteca Bolivariana todo esta a su alrededor

Una buena opci¨®n es conocer el casco hist¨®rico de la ciudad caminando. Partiendo de la plaza Chaplin en Milla, se llega a la calle 13 donde encontrar¨¢n la iglesia de san juan (m¨¢s antigua de M¨¦rida) la plaza sucre con la cordillera como fondo panor¨¢mico, la plaza 5 pa¨ªses y la columna del libertador (primer monumento levantado en honor al libertador). Bajando por las av 3 y 4 encontrar¨¢n la biblioteca bolivariana, museo colonial y la casa del obispo (?) Y llegando luego a la plaza bol¨ªvar. Hermoso paseo que se puede hacer caminando obviando el inc¨®modo tr¨¢nsito de la ciudad. Por supuesto no llevar objetos de valor ni celulares llamativos

la estan descuidando, en viajes pasados estaba mejor la plaza estaba muy sucia las bancas estaban muy deterioradas

Por visitarla en temporada alta hab¨ªa mucha gente, lo que implica mucha basura. Los basureros estaban llenos y no hab¨ªa mucho personal de limpieza. Deben colocar mas personal en temporada alta porque no se daban abasto.
