All the family enjoyed this quirky little museum, which is a true Aladdin's cave with everything from live terrapins to ancient amphora and large bits of wartime aircraft. Unlike earlier reviews, we were charged 1 euro per adult and the children went in free. The children loved it, as did we.

We arrived at the lovely little cove for a swim and then dropped in to the snack bar on the beach. We were immediately accosted by a big, very hearty, articulate and very educated chap who is the owner, He was not trying to sell us anything, but said he could see we were the sort of people who had an interest in history and insisted we visit the museum, about which he is very passionate. It was wonderful to be able to see and actually touch amphora and artefacts which had been laying on the sea bed for thousands of years. Hundreds of varieties of fish and denizens of the sea. A complete must if you are on or near the island. After the tour we had a very good and cheap local meal (including octopus balls) in the company of the owner, Giannis. What a splendid chap and what a pearl of a place.

What a quirky place. There is a very random selection of all things relating to the sea around Kalymnos. English information is a little scant in writing but the young man on duty during my visit filled in all the gaps in perfect English. Interesting and fun!

Museum is located next to the port, it is easy to find. Entrance cost us 3 euros pre person. It is a remarkable collection of sea creatures, gear used for sponge-diving and relicts from the WWII. It was a short but interesting visit. The village itself is tranquil with crystal clear water so you may want to swim after visiting the museum.
