I'm not usually a fan of modern art exhibitions, but the Ludwig Museum has an impressive pop art and modern art collection. The Picasso collection is particularly impressive, with paintings ranging from his early days and showing the evolution of his style as time went by. Make sure you spend a couple of hours at the museum discovering the different collections available.

I didn't know I was such a pop art fan but it turned out I was not only was the artwork brilliant but the staircase was a work of art in itself.

It was very interesting! I saw art prieces in alot of Styles in one building. If u are student even from other country dont be shy say it! Then the price of ticket is quite small. Have a great time and enjoy!

The museum is under renovations right now. Kids are free of charge BUT, the security guard follows your every move and tell the children off. "too close, step back, don't touch, don't wander off". There is a section called "Art Lab" for kids to explore the artistic side but then the guard comes in again and gives you the evil eye constantly. The whole place felt like a prison and we did not enjoy any of the exhibitions due to the staff of this museum. You can get the best view of the city from this museum BUT the staff is telling you off, no purse, no back pack, no this, no that. Must be a single nudist adult to visit this place? The audio was a waste of money too so don't bother. It only had commentaries for some of the art.

Just opposite the Cathedral, this was a very pleasant and educating visit. The Picasso exhibition alone is stunning but accompanied with Ludwigs own works, Lichtenstein and Polke, this should be a definite stop for any who appreciate such work.Take a walk through time and endulge yourself in Clas?si?cal Mod?er?nism, Ex?pres?sion?ism and even Pop Art.Another great day out in Cologne.

Having read the great reviews on TA, we thought this would be a must-visit. Very disappointing, €11 euro each for fundamentally blank walls, and abandoned structures for holding what sounded like a great pop exhibition, lots of drilling noises, and an abstract gallery full of pieces I wouldn't have the nerve to call art given my Godsons bring home better from nursery. We left after about 15 minutes.

We preferred the actual building to the artwork. The art we enjoyed most was the op and pop art on the top floor. There were some Dalis in the basement and some awful (in my opinion) art elsewhere. Some stuff looked like candid camera stuff (you know, let's film people looking at our DIY in progress and thinking it's art). The shop's a bit pants as you can't really buy cards of the works in the gallery but the gallery is very impressive if you like modern architecture. At 11 euro it was quite expensive for the enjoyment we got out of it but the building is very serene with a good rooftop view.

Spent 4 hours in the museum and still felt I rushed it. This wonderful collection takes you through the development of pop art with some classic (almost cliched!) exhibits, but seeing them in the flesh is a wonderful experience. Yes, it's busy and popular but you can get up close and personal with such a wide range of art that you're bound to find something you really love but others can't stand! It'll divide opinion if you go with friends or family - that's part of the experience. Dive in and get ready for the intellectual challenge!

I was so looking forward to some quiet time away from christmas markets, but alas i walked the full way around (building works and all) but could not find an open enterence. But got sone great comparison photos of the new ludwig building and old cathedral
