We visited Mount Solaro during a one-day trip from Sorrento. The ski lift is easy to reach via the public busses and is a nice experience on itself. The views on top of the mountain are breathtaking and offer an almost complete overview of the island and the surrounding area of Naples and Sorrento.

What a fun attraction. We decided to go up Mount Solaro by chairlift and to walk down after. When we arrived there was no queue. I stood in the spot indicated and quickly found myself gently encouraged into a single chair, sealed in and lifted off the ground. The chair is always fairly close to the ground during the 13 minute climb. This ride offers panoramic views and it is fun travelling over gardens. Once at the top, there are lots of viewing points where you can see the Fraglione rocks. There is a small cafe for refreshments where they sell the most delicious lemon slush ices (a speciality on the island) with deck chairs and swinging seats for comfort. The walk down is quite rugged but pleasant. Beware though, protect your legs as we were well and truly bitten.

We had travelled to AnaCapri a few times but I had never had the nerve to go on the chairlift, after a horrific experience on Mount Teide in Tenerife! This time I was determined to get onto the chairlift ....... come what may!The weather was, fortunately, warm and calm, and as the chair began to climb over olive trees and gardens I felt totally overwhelmed by the fact I was travelling up and up on a single swing with nothing more than a single bar across it! There was no turning back, so I took deep breaths and hoped I would soon be at the top!I have to say when I stepped out of the seat and walked a short way to the top, I was overwhelmed by the amazingly beautiful views. We took lots and lots of photographs. How lucky were we that the weather was so delightful and we could see for miles and miles.Soon it was time to get back on the seat and head down. That was a much easier trip. I was so pleased that I had experienced such spectacular scenery and happy with myself for coping . Give it a try!

An easy and fun excursion from Anacapri. The views are beautiful and well worth the ticket and time. We budgeted 30 minutes at the top, which seemed about right. Note that the lift chairs are single.

The views up here are to die for. The Chairlift ride up here is actually very peacefull and quiet. Our kids had a blast as well

October 2014 - My wife and I took the cable car up, which is a smooth ride, and not too bad even for those of us who suffer a little vertigo. Feel the fear and do it anyway! It is quite an experience. Incredible views from the top, and a pleasant cafe for refreshments. We decided to walk down, but could have done with walking boots or trainers as the terrain was not the easiest for flat shoes and sandals (although after the first 300 to 400 yards it became much easier). But don't do as we did and wear shorts and sandals, and of course got bitten many times on our legs by the mosquitos, which you don't notice for 24 hours!! So, if you are climbing Mount Solaro or going to Villa Josa on the east of the island, wear long trousers and good socks!

You can take the chair-lift to the top of Monte Solaro and on the way up, enjoying the peace and quiet, you can experience a wonderful view of Capri from the air. Once you reach the top, you have a breathtaking panorama of Anacapri, Capri and the Sorrentine peninsula!! A 360¡ã view that is out of this world. There is also a bar at the top where you can relax with a drink and take in the beauty that surounds you.

We happened upon this place while exploring the island on our own. We were so happy we did! It was a cheap little ski lift up to the top of the mountain with views to die for. It was so great to do, and we were so happy we found it.

We took the bus from Capri Town to Anacapri. The boarding point for the chair lift is very near the bus stop. The chair lift is not expensive. The ride up the lift is quite enjoyable. Make sure your shoes are tied, or take them off and carry them, as we saw more than a couple of shoes lying on the ground below. The hike down does not look inviting, and less so if you are barefoot. The views at the top are great. There is a dining facility there, with restrooms. We did not eat there, so I cannot vouch for the food. Stairs and trails lead down form the observation area in many directions, affording less-obstructed views of some sights. Many of these are steep and uneven, so be careful!
