The Basilica is home to some stunning mosaics - the norm for Ravenna. There are chairs provided so that one can sit with hands behind head and comfortably marvel at the high level mosaics. They are very well preserved and the intricate details are incredible. A hint from a fellow tourist was to bring a hand mirror in which one can see the upper level pictures and mosaics reflected and thus avoid neck ache. The very small price to pay for multiple entrances to the Unesco World Heritage Sites in no way reflects the experience of seeing them.

The church is very pretty. There is a display of mosaics from the ancient floor. I sat in the back of the church during a wedding. A liitle old Italian lady asked me what I was doing there. I told her I was an American priest and liked weddings. She smiled and laughed. I was not ejected from the Church

Off the beaten path, this church has some of the oldest Byzantine and pre-Byzantine mosaics. Maybe they are not so beautiful like the most famous mosaics in San Vitale, however they are a great piece of History that definitely worth a look!

I hadn't intended to stop at this church, but I had a little time before my train and it is near the train station. So glad I stopped! Displayed on the walls are a series of mosaic fragments from the 13th century. After you've spent all day (or several) taking in the Byzantine mosaics from the 5th & 6th centuries, it is wonderful to see how the mosaic tradition lived on in Ravenna 700 years later. It is also fascinating to see the subject matter that was displayed in these church mosaics, including the 4th crusade and animals from medieval bestiaries & fables.

This church was only 2 minutes walk from our hotel. It had a daily mass at 6:00pm each evening. Well worth a free walk around.

From the entry gates to the mosaic work inside, this is a lovely Basilica to see. The entry gate has some nice carving on it and, although the mosaics inside are perhaps not the most impressive in Ravenna, they are nice and something that perhaps children would enjoy (many are of different animals, both mythical and real).

Da visitare assolutamente, per le sue opere all'interno, per tante sue particolarita, con pazienza e stando attenti a tantissimi particolari non comuni in altre basiliche RAVENNA deve andarne fiera.

in zona stazione centrale e affiancata da parcheggio auto, questa chiesa molto grande attrae il viaggiatore con il suo aspetto semplice ma imponente. pur quasi completamente rifatta a seguito dei bombardamenti conserva un campanile molto alto e millenario e una piacevole soluzione di ingresso con l'alto arco tra le mura. l'atmosfera interna conferma la piacevolezza del progetto.lungo le navate laterali sono visibili frammenti dell'antica pavimentazione.¨¨ la chiesa che ci ha lasciato il miglior ricordo tra la dozzina visitata a Ravenna.

Mi ¨¨ piaciuta molto questa basilica. Molto antica. All'interno vi sono molti frammenti di pavimento a mosaico. Una colonna all'interno mostra la reale profondit¨¤ della basilica e le varie stratificazioni che hanno portato ad avere il livello attuale del pavimento.

la chiesta piu' suggestiva di Ravenna e il parroco pi¨´ simpatico e tollerante. All'entrata nel parchetto antistante la porta vera e propria ci si ritrova n un posto speciale, spesso accompagnato da musiche gregoriane. La chiesa non ¨¨ fastosa e forse proprio questa caratteristica la rende molto suggestiva e porta al raccoglimento.
