Much like the open air museums in Western Europe (for example Beamish, or the Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem), the open-air museum in Humenne attempts to preserve the rich heritage and historic buildings from the surrounding region. Whilst not on the same scale, and certainly nor with the same number of buildings, it does bring together a fine selection of buildings that would have otherwise been lost because of neglect or rebuilding. There is a very good example of the wooden churches that are in the region, together with farm buildings and other agricultural outbuildings. Doesn't take long to go round, but is really worth a visit, especially when there's not much else like in the immediate area.
