This is a charming Ch?teau, located down a side street of the small, pretty town of La Bussi¨¨re. We arrived as it re-opened at 2pm, after the lunch hour closure - you can pay to see both the Ch?teau and garden or just the garden alone. The setting is quite lovely, with the Ch?teau, dating from the 12th century, almost surrounded by a great lake and it is no surprise to find out that there are many displays of everything to do with fish and fishing inside the Ch?teau. This is not a large or sumptuous place, so don't expect the gold and velvet excesses of a lot of other Ch?teaux, but for that very reason, it is a pleasure to wander the rooms, both upstairs and downstairs, as it is easier to imagine living there, and the daily life of the household. The kitchen area, with its shiny copper pans, is very interesting and was evidently in use until the 1950's. Many of the rooms upstairs look out over the lake, gardens and adjoining forest.The lake and gardens are peaceful, and were originally designed by Le Notre of Versailles renown, and you are encouraged to bring a picnic - there is a rustic cabin and bridge amongst the trees that children would love as well as a couple of shaggy goats.But we had the best time in the fruit and vegetable garden, marvelling at all the produce, even in autumn and having fun picking a large punnet of ripe raspberries which we later weighed and bought. Seasonally, there are also strawberries, blackberries, red & black currants to pick - what a great idea. I certainly don't begrudge paying the entrance fee or for the berries as the Ch?teau is privately-run and must be very, very expensive to upkeep.Well worth a visit.

I just got to visit the ch?teau de la Bussi¨¨re and it's remarkable gardens. It's surrounded by a pond, so pretty! If you are interested in history or if you loved the series DOWNTON ABBEY you shouldn't miss out on visiting the privately run castle. You get an idea how the family lived upstairs and the service people worked downstairs. You even get to have a look in the old kitchen. The castle tells the story of a family living there from the time after the French Revolution until today. In the gardens you get the chance to pick some raspberries, red currant and black berries... yum! Definitely enjoyed it's peaceful atmosphere outside of the usual mass tourism!

The rich pastures north of Bussiere-Badil are populated by herds of cattle,pretty bovines that add a lyrical,peaceful feeling to the delightful setting. I love hamlets and this wee one carries the spirit of Perigord Vert with meadows,kitchen gardens and green fields,agri-traditions that are continued in the assiduously cultivated allotments,outside the main village. There is an 11th century keep, a survivor of a former fortress, with houses from the 7th & 8th centuries still in use,remarkably. The village receives cool water from two monolithic granite fountains,a reminder that the Perigord is a place of underground streams and rivers. I love the simple Romanesque arches dividing the cool,massive interior of the curch of Notre Dame,with its 28 capitals ornamenting the church. Check out the octagonal belfry... its a classic.

Vous ferez la visite avec la ch?telaine qui vous contera l'histoire du ch?teau avant de visiter librement les 10 pi¨¨ces meubl¨¦es dans lesquelles se trouvent une ¨¦tonnante collection d'objets d'art sur la p¨ºche, ainsi qu'un coelacanthe, poisson pr¨¦historique impressionnant.Mais le plus beau se trouve encore dehors : ¨¤ c?t¨¦ du site tr¨¨s romantique de ce joli ch?teau pos¨¦ sur l'eau, vous d¨¦couvrirez un merveilleux jardin potager amoureusement entretenu par un tr¨¨s sympathique jardinier qui a su lui donner ¨¤ la fois une ?me et une personnalit¨¦, avec ses citrouilles, ses courges et ses superbes choux-fleurs et salades, ses plantes m¨¦dicinales, mais aussi ses framboises et ses m?res que l'on peut cueillir et acheter apr¨¨s les avoir mises dans des barquettes ¨¤ disposition. Que dire aussi des superbes dalhias aux couleurs mordor¨¦es... Bref un superbe jardin qui n'a rien a envier ¨¤ un certain jardin potager royal proche de Paris. Bien au contraire !

tout d'abord le prix d'entr¨¦e correspond ¨¤ un chateau priv¨¦ d'autres sont largement plus chers ( jardin + visite ). La visite du chateau du 17¨¨me siecles est bien ,le plus c'est l'exposition sur les poissons ( vu que la quantit¨¦ de pecheurs dans la region ) Le jardin meme en fin octobre ¨¦tait magnifique ( notamment les differentes courges ). Le parc avec l'etang est romantique et champestre ( les cabanes ).

Il y a des ch?teaux priv¨¦s qui m¨¦ritent le d¨¦tour et qui nous prouvent qu'ils peuvent ¨ºtre bien entretenus et agr¨¦ables ¨¤ visiter.Le ch?teau de la Bussi¨¨re m¨¦rite le d¨¦tour. L'entr¨¦e ¨¤ 8,50€ n'est pas si excessive que ca.A l'int¨¦rieur du ch?teau, qui se visite librement, on emprunte un classeur qui nous guide et nous donne tout un tas d'explications. On d¨¦ambule dans les cuisines, les salons, la salle ¨¤ manger et l'on d¨¦couvre une jolie table agr¨¦ment¨¦e de fa?ences modernes de Gien.Le ch?teau est d¨¦cor¨¦ d'objets li¨¦s ¨¤ la p¨ºche, cela ne m'a pas inspir¨¦, mais cela ne m'a pas g¨ºn¨¦.Le parc est tr¨¨s agr¨¦able pour se balader. Le potager m¨¦rite la visite tant il y a de fruits et de l¨¦gumes ¨¤ y d¨¦couvrir ! Il est bien entretenu et tr¨¨s joli. Au fond, il est possible en ¨¦t¨¦ de cueillir des fruits rouges et de payer sa r¨¦colte ¨¤ l'accueil.

Entr¨¦e assez ch¨¨re par rapport ¨¤ ce qui est propos¨¦. 8€5 par adulte vu ce qu'il y a ¨¤ visiter!Manque d'explications sur ce qui est pr¨¦sent¨¦.Les jardins rattrapent un peu le coup ainsi que le parc.

Tijdens een zonnige zomerdag genieten van een smakelijke lunch op het terras van Chateau de la Bussiere is een bijzondere belevenis. De historische abdij vormt het decor en het park met zijn eeuwenoude bomen nodigt uit voor een wandelingetje. De lunch was smakelijk, de service adequaat en de wijnkaart indrukwekkend. Helaas waren we op doorreis en moesten wij na de lunch verder rijden, maar eigenlijk is het is een plek die het verdient om er meer tijd te verblijven. Een omweg waard!
