I live in the area, and it is a really nice surrounding to walk in and look at the boats. Go to the 'slusscafe' and take a shrimp sandwich. R?kmacka in Swedish You won't be disappointed.

You can loose your self in an afternoon walk. Not many restaurants but tons of place to sit and enjoys the sighs.

Trollhattan is very proud of its waterways and electrical production capability. The spot is not too far from town, picturesque and doesn't take too long out of your day to view.

We travelled through the Trollh?ten Kanal in July. Having ascended through the locks, we were delighted to stay in the attractive harbour area, with cafés, ice-cream stands, a museum and a great view of boats, large and small, transiting. It's just a short walk from the other attractions, The SAAB Museum, Innovatum and the excellent, helpful Tourist Office, as well as the town of Trollh?ten itself. The jewel in the crown is the three historic flights of locks adjacent to one another in beautiful landscaped grounds with walks, seating and picnic areas. Also don't miss the 'release of water' through the sluices to regulate the water level in Lake V?nnern. 300,000 Litres of water per second is truly spectacular!

A leisurely walk along or a boat ride in, either will allow you to enjoy the history and beauty of the Trollhattan Canal. Watching giant shipping vessels navigate the modern locks is a must see, while exploring the original, hand-cranked locks is a look back in time to when manpower was king! Stop along one of the many majestic views for great photo opportunitites.

We enjoyed every minute of this tour. From Gotabourg sail up the self river to the Trollhatten Canal. We sailed, you can rent motor boats in many places. Trollhatten is a larger canal with only 6 large locks, easy to go up, stay on the right side, the left side has rocks sticking out in some places. You can spend lots of time sightseeing along the way. It was built in1800 by hand, you can see some of the original smaller locks in the harbour at Trollhatten. Onwards towards lake Vaner. Beautiful country side with an occasional elk on both sides of the water way. After crossing the lake, which has many lovely little-known harbours, you come to the entrance to the Gota Canal , about100 miles and 64 locks. We stayed 4 weeks and enjoyed every minute. There is one fee, which includes all marina's,all water, washing machines and dryers. There is a bike/walking path Along the canal, and hostels which are. Very reasonable. The canal ends south of Stockholm,by Suderkobing, on the Baltic.

Lovely place to visit. Trollhatten is a nice city and the canal lends it a very special feature. We took the boat ride, had wonderful tea and cake with great views and then we walked back to the city along the pathways following the canal. It was a real treat! I recommend it.

Had the opportunity to have a family bicycle ride between V?nersborg and Trollh?ttan along the G?ta ?lv, including the ability to view bridge and river lock passing by large vessels.

Me gusta.
