Paid €13 each for what is predominantly an exhibition on Sibelius. The wall mounted floor plan didn't give much information about the collections. You could pay €3 for a guide plus more for an audio guide. The 3rd floor is closed so all in all in my opinion it was a lot of money to pay for a limited collection of art. This is the National Museum of Finnish Art but the contents didn't represent the art of the country.

Sorry to say, but there's nothing much to see here. The basic exhibition has mostly Finnish paintings, plus one Chagall and one Repin, or so.The Sibelius exhibition had some nice paintings, but they really know nothing about music in Ateneum, the exhibition texts were a bit... well. Nuff said. Plus, I saw a staff member totally humiliate one guest over a photo she was trying to take - the "no photos" sign was badly placed and really difficult to spot in that particular room. The staff member was really rude and out of line - typical Finnish "culture-worker hoi-polloi".

The current exhibit was a good addition to the regular displays. The art was from Sibelius's contemporaries and much of his family's private collection. There were also musical pieces one could listen to. We enjoyed the visit.

The exhibition about Sibelius was inspiring. I especially liked the "sounding rooms" and the exhibition catalogue. The museum shop is also very nice.

Whilst the outside of the building is being renovated the inside is perfect. I started with a cup of beautiful tea and a Runeberg pie at the tasty and very affordable Tables cafe. The Sibelius exhibition was fascinating, well structured and gave a real insight into much more that just his music. The virtual music space that represents the sculpture in his honour was huge fun and quite addictive. Loved it

I went to the Sibelius Exhibition there. Very well-organized and creative exhibition. You get to know the greatest composer of Finland, his life, people who influenced him and his inspiration. You can also listen to his music (especially Finlandia). Highly recommend for people who interested in art and getting to know Finnish spirit.

Only if you are into Art you have to go here, otherwise you might save the 13Eur on something different.

It is a great medium size museum but nowa days part of it is going through renovations and that makes it rather small.

This museum is really well located, right in the city centre. What is good, it is not too big so you can visit it and still have a lot of time to do other things in a day. The displays vary and if you want to see the finnish national artists this is your place. recommeded to get to know finnishness and its' golden peak.

A very nice museum. When we went, there was a brilliant Sibelius exhibition, which was well worth the entry fee. There is also a nice cafe. It was not busy, so we had a peaceful review of the exhibition.

I went to see the exhibition on Sibelius, lovely photos, videos, quotes, artwork and a lot of music to listen to. Very well done. Also some nice Finnish art work to see in the permanent exhibition.

Lovely place: very children friendly, has nice cafes and a chop for souvenirs. Right in the city center.
