The central station in Rotterdam was known in the eighties for a different reason. Just next to station platform zero was established which provided homeless addicts shelter and methadone. It took nearly 10 years to complete the new central station which is built of steal, wood and glass. With the opening of the station, also called the shark due to its shape- Rotterdam has a new landmark!

In 2014 this old station (from 1957) was completely rebuilt. Now it's an eyecatcher in the center of Rotterdam.

Lots of shops to kill time whenever you need to pass time waiting for the train. It's an international station so it's easy to catch a train from there to Antwerp/Brussels/Paris etc.

The architecture of this building is absolutely amazing. For a train station, this is very modern. If you're taking the train, be sure you check what track your train is departing on before you enter the gates. Once inside, we had a difficult time trying to figure out what track to go to.

I liked the feel and ambience of this station, very modern and very well made with all the amenities. Amazing choice of food outlets and very good information center. Internal connections to RET metro lines... very convenient!

Great upgrade from the old Centraal Station with the packed square full of buses and trams. Really a major improvement now with the new building with beuatiful architecture, the nice square in front that is clean and open. Really impressed with the work that has been done.Inside there is easy acces towards the trains, underground rail with shops, restaurants and great logistics. All open and clean with great signage which creates easy navigation around the Centraal Station. Really nice place and major improvement for the area !

Now that the refurbished Rotterdam Central station is finally completely finished, the result is very impressive! A brand new, clean, spacious station which really is a great architectural feat. Rotterdam can be proud of it's new train station.

I needed some help to navigate my way round Rotterdam one frosty Monday morning. The Tourist Information adviser gave me some great ideas of what to go and see, he also gave me accurate directions to each tourist attraction. Without these I would have been simply lost in this city - Thank-you to Tourist Information at Centraal Station! You made my stay so enjoyable!

It is a train station with connections to and from the outside cities. Rotterdam Centraal is a stunning place to be. Clean inside and out. Though i don't worry how i made the connections because i trusted my husband to facilitate all for us. I can still understand, English are used in the ticket booths.Shops and food stalls are available too.

Rotterdam seems to have a lot of nice modern architecture and the station does look awesome. Not entirely sure it should be #1 in Rotterdam but there is nothing bad I can say about it I guess. It's a station.

I have gotten used to Dutch train stations and airports, which are efficient, but not overly easy to navigate. Information is usually in Dutch, although the ticket kiosks offer English, which is a bonus. The one escalator out of the station was under repairs meaning you had to haul luggage up three flights to get to street.Train connections are usually tight and you seldom have time to really stop and figure out where you should go.Most announcements are in Dutch and English and if you listen carefully you will do ok.
