We opted to drive up 89A from Sedona to Flagstaff and enjoyed Oak Creek canyon along the way. We stopped at Half Way picnic pullout and enjoyed the convenient pay station. Everything was clean and Oak Creek below was nice to see and hear while eating our picnic.

Nice drive up the canyon coming from Sedona. Be careful of the traffic on the narrow curvy road. Not too many pull outs to view the scenery.

It is well worth the long winding drive from Sedona toward Flagstaff. Definitely stop at the scenic overlook. The other canyon may be Grand, but traveling through this one made for a great journey north.
  • Joybh
The scenery here is worth all the creek crossings. We made 7 crossings when we finally turned back. We hiked a day after it had rained up in Flagstaff and that was enough to make more crossings too challenging. We were disappointed to turn back, but still felt we got a good taste of what oak creek has to offer in beauty. Take a walking stick! It helps with balance on creek crossings.

If you have the time, don't miss driving along the 89A north out of Sedona. beautiful scenery. places to pull over and explore, swim, hike or camp.

It will take about 1 hour simply to drive the length of Oak Creek Canyon, and you probably will get behind some slow traffic, but it is beautiful and worth the drive.

The beauty and serenity here is breathtaking! Nature at it's finest and it reminds us to take care of this world we live in.

Oak Creek Canyon was beautiful. You could also see that this trip would change with each season so it is certainly a do it again type of trip. loved the colors and the meandering drive in the woods.
  • andstour
Very pretty drive from near Flagstaff along 89A to lovely Sedona. A number of picnic / barbeque areas and camp sites. Worth a detour to enjoy the views.

Just stay away from west Sedona. Rich, snobby butt holes that tell you they don't want you there. The scenery is great! The shops and restaurants at east Sedona are awesome
