A lovely place. It was so empty when I visited, maybe beacuse it was tuesday and a cold day. They have nice animals, as panda and polar bear. The souvenirs stores are cute and they have good places to eat.

The kids loved it.Even thou it was snow on the ground it was quite warm and the kids made a snowman at the zoo.

The Memphis Zoo has become one of the nicest Zoos in the country in my opinion. The constant improvement and expansion has turned the Zoo in to a real gem. It's something Memphians have become very proud of. A must do if your in the city for a visit. If you live here, get a membership , go often with the kids, bring friends!

The Zoo is a hidden and much overlooked gem in Memphis. Parking is an issue these days but hopefully as solution will come about soon.

This zoo has been redone ! You can almost touch the animals here , lots of room for theKids to run around ! They have rides for the kids! My grand baby's love this place ! And food is great here and lots of great shops ! Feeding pens you can buy apples and things for animals ! Kids will be tired when you leave ! So this one will make them sleep as so as you pull out of the zoo ! Always a blast here !

This zoo is one of the best in the country. There is a large variety of animals. This zoo has always has a variety of special events that happen throughout the year.

Nice place to take your kids to! Great variety of animals!Food within the zoo can be expensive if you have multiple children. Be sure to lock your car when going into the zoo and take down your GPS and lock it away.

I am one big time animal lover, so if there is a zoo in town, I will be there. To me being at a zoo is one of my true happy places. The Memphis Zoo has been around for over 100 years and is home to more than 3500 creatures representing over 500 species. The zoo encompasses over 76 acres and currently 55 acres is being used. It is part over Overton Park with the Brooks Museum being here as well. So if you have an entire day, then plan on seeing both the zoo and museum. The zoo is divided into 3 zones and each zone is divided up unto different sections. The zoo is only one of 4 zoos in the US to have pandas amongst their charge. They are housed in the China section which it just gorgeous. The buildings and gardens alone are just simply beautiful and attention to detail is what makes it very authentic. And I loved the pandas. They are just so beautiful and it makes you just want to snuggle those little babies. The African Veldt was also a favorite. Elephants are amongst my favorite animals and I love to go just watch these magnificent creatures. And at the giraffe enclose there was this baby with those big brown eyes that I just fell in love with. I spent like 30 minutes just photographing the baby and waving at him. I also fell in love with this adorable orangutan. And I soooo love the Chilean flamingos. The flamingos are my favorite bird. Also while it isn't listed as botanical gardens like some other zoos, the landscaping and gardens here are simply beautiful. Oh and check out the bird aviary. I am sorry but money can buy happiness. The $1 I spent on bird seed and being able to feed birdies brought me a whole lot of happyiness! Make sure you bring you bathing suit in hot months and there is a pool right at the front entrance. It is more so for kids but for adults it would be a nice way to cool off after running around sweating to death. They do have bathroom facilities and lockers. They do have stroller and wheelchair rentals. They do have a caf¨¦ and concession stands located throughout and gift shops. Here you can pick up a squished penny (my favorite) and elephant poo paper (very cool gift and trust me it doesn't smell like poo). You can hold you next big event here including your wedding! They do hold a number of tours and events throughout the year. Just check their website for more information.They are members of the AZA and keep their animals in their natural habitats. The zoo is wonderful place for the whole family or if your like me and solo and child free..it is even more wonderful.

Great time at the Memphis Zoo. New exhibits every time I go. At Christmas it was rented for hospital party and we had an absolutely fabulous time. Don't forget your camera because you can get some great picture memories.

The Memphis Zoo is an excellent family fun location. There are numerous animal exhibits and convenient drink, food, and restroom locations. There are little shops at various locations as well. Parking is on sight. The entire zoo area is clean and the folks that work there are friendly and knowledgeable. The zoo often hosts/ puts on special evens and dinners as well. So wear comfortable shoes and clothing because you'll want to spend the day seeing all the exhibits. Make sure to bring a camera because there are many memories to be captured !
