This gallery and museum in Woodstock, NY has (as its name says) both works for sale and an exhibition of more established artists. When we visited, the exhibition was of a surrealist artist who I had never heard of. I loved learning about him; the information about the artist and each of his works on display was thorough and interesting. There were notebooks containing bios and information for the gallery works for sale, which was appreciated. There was also a small exhibit downstairs of smaller (in size) works for sale as well as artwork by local schoolchildren.There is no entrance fee, but a donation box with a suggestion that you donate. The space is really nice. The two people working at the entrance didn't say a single word to us, so on the one hand it is nice not to have people pushing you to purchase a work, but on the other hand some offer of availability for questions or information would have been nice. Like several other businesses in Woodstock, the Museum was closed on the Wednesday we visited and is closed Tuesdays also. It was also closed on the Friday when we attempted to return because they were setting up a show. So call ahead --they seem to keep odd hours.
