Frankly I find some Museums just take too long to include in a busy itinerary, this one was a pleasant surprise. They managed to fit a nice amount of information into a smaller foot print. Worthwhile visit to see the history of the region. Combine your visit with a walk through the Botanical Gardens located next door.

There's lots to see here , from dinosaurs to an Arctic exhibition! It's all free, but donations are very welcome. The unique treasures of NZ galleries are so interesting and many more. The staff are very knowledgable and so helpful.

A very well laid out Museum that packs a LOT of information into a very small space, and yet you don't get that cramped feeling. Lucky to go there while there is an exhibit on the 100th anniversary of the T Shirt. It was very intriguing to see how this humble garment has impacted on society. A nice little gift shop and with the botanical gardens outside it has a very pleasant atmosphere. If you are in Christchurch then this is a must do on your list.

Any museum that has mummies, penguins, vintage posters and extensive material on the conquest of the poles has earned my respect and admiration. Nice job, christchurch!

The museum is really nice, we especially liked the Antarctic, Maori and Dinosaur exhibits. The staff were friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.

This museum is a great place for kids. There are interactive and fun experiences throughout the museum. Large horse and penny farthing to sit on. Highlights of the museum include artefacts from the heroic age of discovery in Antarctica, the Maori collections. Just so much to see, we ran out of time.

There is plenty to see in this well laid out museum with static displays of early life to furniture through the ages and a mock up street. Entrance is free and the attraction is close to the city tram way route.

Interesting Museum located in a lovely park, which is free entry (donation).Wide range of items from Maori to Antarctic expeditions on display.Nice cafe at the top of the building with good views.

This museum in CHCH is a great visit, and it covers a lot about NZ's part in exploration od the Antarctic. There is also a replica of early Christchurch and a heap of Maori artefacts. For a quick concise overall outlook on the history of this area of NZ, GO!

It was a great insight into local history, but not a modern museum. However I understand Christchurch has other stuff to concentrate on. I really loved the museum.

My wife and spent a couple of hours in the museum and found it both interesting and informative. Well worth visiting. Small donation requested on entering.
