Great area to snorkel... and you can snorkel all the way out to Tintoreras from here... lots of wildlife. Good afternoon spot to hang out.

It was a beautiful place to snorkle. I saw a mantaray, and was stung by a jellyfish or sea urchin - I did not stick around to check. The sting was not that bad, and with vinegar it cleared up in two days. It is hard to get into the water, since the dock is small - but you can see right to the bottom.

Just a short walk from main plaza and bring your snorkeling gear or simply googles if u swimm often. Marvellous place to explore underwater for having fun easily two hours, be a little carefull on weekends if you are the kind who love lonely beaches or nature spots. If u are friendly this also is an opportunity place with not a lot of tourists everybody relaxes in special way in this islands.

The activities on Isabela can be a little on the expensive side and there are not a ton of options to entertain yourself otherwise - which makes this free option to snorkel a go-to-place. The water is pretty clear and a great temp. The visibility (on the day that we went) was really quite good all things considered and we even got a chance to swim with a turtle for about 5 minutes. The walkway that leads to this area seems pretty new and is littered with sea lions which is always fun. Snorkel, mask and fins can be rented in town for $5 and this is a short 1km walk up the main road from the downtown square. You won't spend the entire day or even a half (I don't think) but you have to check it out.

This is a very good snorkling beach. It was part of our daily mountainbike trip and therefore it is easy to get there. Otherwise it is a 30 minutes walk from town or a short taxi drive away. Sealions everywhere, some pinguins and a lot of nice fish.

Went snorkeling here with hopes of swimming with penguins. Walked into the area on the new wooden footpath through beautiful mangroves that were littered with sea lions in such a natural setting. The water is a bit chilly here. It seems that fresh, cold water enters the ocean at this point. It makes sense that it would attract penguins. Well, we found none here, but just the other side of the boat docks, we saw plenty swimming in the shallow waters there. We walked over and found the penguins swimming all around us in a playful manner. This lasted for quite some time. One swam right up to me when I stood, and hovered within a foot of me, curiously checking me out. Others swam right toward my mask when submerged, and brought me the thrill I had hoped for. If you go to Concha de Perla, don't miss the life in the harbor. At low tide, you can walk right over to the barrier island, walk over its moonlike surface, and watch the dozens of marine iguanas swimming in the lagoon on the ocean side of the island. Great place, and the price can't get better than free.

So there are a lot of poor reviews just because the walkway was closed for awhile. Well it is open now and it is amazing snorkeling. We saw a manta ray, penguins, sea lions, a seahorse, sea turtles, starfish, sea urchins, and lots of other fish. Very clear and free! Early morning (6:00am) looked incredible and there was nobody there. We keep going back just because it is so good. You have to maneuver around sea lions on the walkway sometimes.

Take a walk what more do you have to do on vacation. Watch all the animals in their natural environment. Many things to see but be mindful of the signs when it says 45 min walk it is and it will be hot everything is hot here take plenty of water!!

We were on Isabela in November for 10 days. We wanted to visit the Concha de Perla but the walk way was closed due to it having collapsed in parts (we were told) and had been closed for quite a while apparently. We did not snorkel/swim - found the water a little bit too cold so unable to swim through the harbour etc to see what it was all about. We did see penguins, iguanas, seals when we went kayaking around les Tintoreras, but the sea was to rough to kayak to Concha de Perla that day. So for somewhere where an access walkway has been specifically built to visit it and is out of order it should NOT receive a TA cert of Excellence particularly for 2014!! This why I have given it only 1 star.

A sea lion swam right in front of our eyes, we saw a manta ray, and a penguin in the area of Concha de Perla closest to the harbor, which is incredible. The experience was hindered by the many boats and people populating the bay. Not sure how much better the experience would have been if we could have accessed Concha de Perla via path.
