We tried to do the best out of this small museum but even so it felt like a rip off. Entrance price is very reasonable 3 euros. The ground floor is made of a relics from before Christ and is partially interesting but nothing exceptional or that can't be seen in any city museum in France. Underground is a nice vault roman structure worth a look. The first floor is the place where the paintings are held. Although we drove 4 hours to see the exhibition of Josephine 150th birthday it was rather sad and limited to only one small room containing 10 paintings; this was a shame when ones know there are more painting in Pompidou Centre in Paris that could have made their way to Senlis. This exhibition was advertised everywhere and sold as a grand special event but at the end it turned out to be a tourist rip off. Losing one day holiday, 8 hours drive (return trip), + motorway fare, etc. was a waste of time. We tried to enjoy as much as we can the exhibition but it was difficult to swallow the limited paintings. There was no other visitors. A real shame. If the idea was to make sure that I'll never set a foot in Senlis again then it was a success.

What a fantastic little museum this is! €3 entry fee. Fully equipped for the disabled. Well thought-out layout. Interesting French art collection, as well as artefacts from the Roman period, found in Senlis & the surrounding area. It takes no more than a couple of hours to get round, so it's an excellent activity for a rainy afternoon.

An interesting museum with artifacts that were excavated from the city's Roman days, and parts of the remaining Gallo Roman walls can be seen within the museum. French art collection on the upper floor. All for just a EUR3 entrance fee. The museum is located just beside the notre dame cathedral in a beautiful garden.

I visited the museum today and I thought it was very interesting, specially because of the building housing it. On the lower floor, I loved being able to see a bit of the Roman walls that surrounded the city in the 3rd century, and what it used to be a Domus or Roman house. In the second level there are some pieces from the Medieval ages in Senlis and the third floor is for paintings mainly by painters from the city. You can also see what is left of a chapel. The museum is well priced, 3 euros for the one museum or 4 euros for the entrance to 3 museums. The ladies working there were very nice, I wish all museum workers in France were as nice and welcoming!

This is an incredible museum. Roman artifacts in the original site. Not to be missed. Free on Sundays. If you have any interest in archeology and Roman history in France, this is a must see.

    Petit mus¨¦e magnifiquement agenc¨¦.
