A unique experience with an interesting historical environment. Just the boat trip (which should be done when it's nice weather) is worth the whole trip, as you can see Karlskrona from the sea.

Interesting to know about the military inspiration of the city. A very nicely preserved fort, inserted on an island. You can go on a guided tour by boat, where you can see city surroundings from an interesting perspective and know more about the city and its history.

If you are short on time in Karlskrona, don't miss the fortress.You will have the chance to have a good view of Karlskrona from the water, and appreciate it is still a naval base, a glimpse of the archipelago and treated to some Swedish history.Tours must be booked via the toursist office, ID shown, and are guided.Tip: call them the day before to be sure to get tickets, their numbers are quite limited (60?) per day.

Take one of the ugly yellow free ferrys here, a walk to the fortress on the idyllic island of Salt? and take a cider and a snack at the restaurant. Its a day, and a good one at that. but only if the weather is okey, otherwise get yourself a swedish date and get drunk at one of the bars in town and wait to the next day. Anyway - the history and architecture of this place is unique and part of the world heritage - see it!

This fortification is an amazing piece of military history and well worth the detour. Claiming to be one of the oldest military installations in the world which is still in use, the atmosphere of ongoing history is very much up and close to you. You will need to make reservations to get there since it is a military base still - contact the Karlskrona tourist office to find out when there are guided tours and how to make reservations. Foreigner will need some sort of valid identification documents. Most tours are only done during the summer.
