Saw this while doing the Long Logs walk and it is intersecting to see how the logs were used to make a house. An interesting ruin to see.

I have been to the Petrified Forest twice. The first time was November 2013 and again in May 2014. Both times the weather was pleasant, but I do not think I would enjoy it as much in mid summer. This last visit, in the Spring the flowers were in bloom and made hiking very enjoy able.

We visited this remarkable National Park in early August 2013. Start to finish was the one high upon the other. First, the painted desert with all the colors resulted in the camera's sd card being punished severely. Blue Mesa was even more spectacular with that special blue mixed in with white and grey. The petrified forest makes one wonder where all those big trees came from. It is almost unthinkable to think that they all grew here in what is now desert. Could they come from somewhere else in a flood maybe? Be that as it may, it remains a site to behold. You should not miss this one. It is a definite must do. $10 per car is nothing.

Someone build a house out of the petrified wood! This was just as interesting as the rest of the national park.

Das Agate House ist Teil eines kleinen Pueblos der pr?kolumbianischen Pueblo-Indianer, das um 1050 bis 1300 n.Chr. erbaut wurde und acht Zimmer umfasste. Das ehemalige Dorf liegt auf dem Gipfel eines kleinen H¨¹gels. Ein Raum des Pueblos wurde 1934 rekonstruiert. Die W?nde bestehen aus Bl?cken von versteinertem Holz, verbunden mit Lehm. Man kann sich gut vorstellen, wie die Pueblo-Indianer damals lebten. Ihr Leben war sicher nicht einfach. Arch?ologen glauben, dass dieser Ort nur saisonell von H?ndlern, J?gern oder umherziehenden Clans besiedelt war. Sie schlie?en das daraus, dass nur wenige Artefakte, wie z.B. Tonscherben, hier gefunden wurden.Um diese Sehensw¨¹rdigkeit zu besuchen, muss man vom Parkplatz des Rainbow Forest Museums zuerst zu den ?Long Logs¡° wandern und von dort weiter zum Agate House. Dabei ¨¹berquert man den Jim Camp Wash. Insgesamt ist der Rundweg ca. 2 Meilen lang.
