We travel to Walla Walla each year for our anniversary. We always make it a point to stop at Rulo to visit Vicki and Kurt, awesome people. There wine is far the best in the valley, and you will learn so much as Kurt and Vicki take time to talk and explain their operation. There not open all the time as they do everything themselves, if the barrels are out of the drive way there open. Don't miss this opportunity to stop by..

I always visit Rulo when wine tasting in Walla Walla. The owners are so lovely and down to earth. The tasting "room" is in the wine making/barrel storing area. It is small, behind an unmarked green door so a bit hard to find on your first visit. Worth the stop, great wine-I love their reds!

Over the last several years, Rulo Winery has become one of our regular stops - and usually our first - when wine tasting and buying in the Walla Walla valley. The owners, Kurt and Vicki, are incredibly friendly and helpful. It is nice to visit a winery where the owners and wine makers are there to answer questions in person. Rulo has a great variety of red and white wines. Their viognier is one of the best you will find in the state, and they make several different excellent chardonnays, both oaked and unoaked to appeal to any palate. If you are a red wine fan, their syrahs and cabernet sauvignon are not to be missed! These are fantastic wines at very reasonable prices. You can easily buy a mixed half case for under $150, and you will not be disappointed in any of them. Rulo is not on all of the maps in the wine tourism publications, and they mainly only sell from the tasting room and in select restaurants. They do submit some wines to reviewers, and routinely receive 90 to 94 point scores, for those of you who pay attention to that sort of thing! In short, Rulo offers superb wines at very reasonable prices, a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and many laughs as you are able to chat with the owners. I highly recommend them! One visit and they are sure to become a favorite of yours, too.

We loved this place and the wines! Beautifully designed, Rulo is the creation of a perfectionist who is passionate about winemaking.

Can beat Rulo for value and quality in the Walla Walla Valley!

This was the last winery we stopped at during our last trip to Walla Walla and ended up being a favorite. It's on the opposite side of town from the airport wineries, but close to a few others that you might want to stop at and still close enough to town to be very convenient. Rulo was one of the more informal and less fussy places that we stopped at. The owner and his wife were the only people working (although there were quite a few tasters milling about) and they were extremely friendly. They had a white and a rose' that we loved and we ended up with a case of Syrah at the end of our tasting. The owner will take it out and put it in your car for you- it's really a small and personally run operation. While we were there we got into disussions about dinner and Vicki (the wife who runs the tasting) was nice enough to call and book us a table. Again- this is a pretty informal operations- you're not going to get gorgeous grounds or a striking building here, but the wine and the owners are worth making it part of your plan and their prices are really reasonable. It's on our short list to recommend to others.

We enjoyed a wonderful visit to Walla Walla during "crush" (early October) and made a point of stopping by Rulo Winery. We've been fans of Rulo wine since they first began making it, so it was a real treat to visit their boutique winery. Kurt Schlicker, the winemaker, and his wife Vicki were both present in the tasting room and they are phenomenal -- they could not have been more welcoming, enthusiastic, and down-to-earth. If you're looking for a place to really see a small but very well-run wine operation, this is the spot. Be sure to call ahead to the winery to find out their days and hours for tasting. Enjoy!
