This bike/walking trail is set along the Chippewa River but also takes you through the city of Chippewa, around the Leinie's Brewery, across Lake Wissota, through farmlands and countryside.

We rode various parts of the Chippewa Trail in the fall of 2013. The first 7 miles out of Eau Claire, WI were very nice and well surfaced. However the next 20 plus miles were difficult because although it was a paved trail, the asphalt was broken and crumbling and I got a flat tire. However, the 7 miles which started at the end of the Red Cedar Trail to Durand was excellent and beautiful. I would, therefore, recommend taking the Red Cedar Trail to the junction with Chippewa River Trail and then going towards Durand. This trip would be about 42 miles round trip.

Nice fun trail that incorporates the city and country. Lots of farmland and serenity. Pavement is kept up well. Not too many windbreaks. Goes along the river.

It is 75 miles from Menomonie to Eau Claire and Back! Excellent travels and beauty along the river!
