This wine trail is spectacular. But to really enjoy it, spend a weekend. No, not enough time, take a weeks vacation. There are so many wines to taste and restaurants to satisfy your hunger beautifully located around Seneca Lake. The wineries are accommodated by friendly hosts who open up their homes and/or businesses for tasting. Be the first to taste future prize winning wines, or taste wines that have already taken home a number of awards. Each winery you stop at has their own unique specialty. You can't talk about the wine trail without mentioning the awesome Finger Lakes within short drives from each other. Hike the trails to be amazed by beautiful waterfalls and other places of splendor. There is the Gorge in Watkin Glens at the foot of the wine trail for hiking uphill to plateaus of waterfalls cascading down ancient stones, to pool at the next level..... Watkins Glen hosts races you don't want to miss, and not far is a wonderful campground, and restaurant. And of course several wonderful hotels and BB to complete your stay. Want to spend a night in a real caste? Go for it and stay at the beautiful Belhurst Caste. To add to the allure some say its haunted by a friendly ghost http://lite987.com/belhurst-haunted-castle-of-the-finger-lakes/ . There are boutiques and craft shops found in several areas around the lakes. We visit at least once or twice every year, and it is the very best place to go to relax, see beautiful parks, hike, camp, and taste. Come visit the real New York, lush and lively with nature.

Our family members had a very relaxing week checking out many of the wineries and even beer making establishments. We also visited a place that specialized in whiskey. Many places also had great restaurants and beautiful views of the river. We also visited some funky old antique places. Great vacation and wonderful people. We brought home a number of our favorite wines.

We have been coming to the glen for years- from racing to camping it's fantastic- the wine tour/variety is fantastic. What impresses us the most is always the friendly staff at each and Every winery, and their willingness to suggest neighboring wineries for varieties and activities. Many places to stay (we love the harbor hotel) and eat (glenora is a blast)... And the brewing and distilling choices continue to grow as well!!! Winter makes a particularly scenic time to visit the area.We have never been disappointed - thank you to the wineries and people of the area for always making us feel welcome!!!

3 Brothers, Penguin Bay, Hazlitt, JR Dill...there are never enough hours in the day or days in our vacation to visit all the vineyards we love. Its different every time and I never get tired of talking about it. I could run the visitors center!

Just got back from a Deck the Halls weekend on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. I can honestly say this excursion was not what I expected. I have toured the wineries on Keuka Lake before during a normal weekend and it was a very slow (almost stuffy), but yet educational tour. If that's your aim do not come for Deck the Halls. These weekends are a party plain and simple. The wineries know they are dealing with people trying to hit 20 - 30 wineries in a couple days, many of whom are taking buses from place to place and drinking in between. Everyone is very friendly, but the whole thing definitely feels like a manufacturing environment. Also, you dry red wine lovers may want to look elsewhere. The cool weather, short growing season of this area is best known to produce sweet wines, and that is certainly reflected in the wineries' lineups. That isn't to say the event wasn't fun. The food was delicious and enough was provided that over the course of the day we didn't eat lunch and barely had room for dinner. Many of the pourers are very knowledgeable and most of the wineries make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in.Favorite places had to be Three Brothers with three unique wineries and a brewery all in the same place and Hazlitt, which had a very relaxed environment. Would love to come back during a normal weekend to see what the wineries are like when they aren't as overwhelmed. Overall the trail has a huge variety and great scenery. I will definitely be back.

I lived in NY for most of my life and never did a wine trail until I moved to the Texas Hill Country. I traveled back to spend a weekend with my sisters in Watkins Glen and do some wine tasting. To my suprise, NY has some good red wines. We hired a driver for the day and hit about 7 wineries on the east side of Seneca Lake. Most were boutique wineries so not the typical NY wines in your local liquor store, definitely better than expected. I don't know why I waited so long to do this, but it's now going to be an annual trip.

Perfect time of year to do the wine trails. Crowds weren't there, weather comfortable. Many restaurants. Antique shops.

This wine trail is so much fun. We hit up 15 wineries on Friday of this event weekend and plan on doing the rest Saturday. We like sweet wine and have had no problem finding wine to our liking. There are also many dry and semi-dry for other people. I was expecting crowds of people but thus far it has been delightful. Highly recommended.

I took a bus trip from PA for a 2-day tour of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. The Wineries are located off the main road & have easy access even in the Coach! Glenora gave an excellent presentation of wines pared with a cheese. I purchased a case of wine from Lakewood Vineyards even tho I later had to determine how to take it back home with me on the airplane. Wagner Vineyards' Ginny Lee Restaurant serves an excellent lunch & they have a brewery - try the coffee beer. An overall fabulous trip with Knouse Travel who are excellent, friendly people. Ask for Deb who is a marvelous Vacation Planning Specialist.

Glad to know you enjoyed the wines at Serenity and the hospitality at Glenora, and appreciate you visiting our member wineries during your recent trip. Seeing your passion for red wine, if you do opt to visit our region again, it might be helpful to focus on those wineries that have won Gold or Double Gold medals for red wines you're fond of, and maybe that will help you find more, and more affordable, red wines that you enjoy. http://senecalakewine.com/seneca-lake/winery-awards.html I've heard nothing but great things about your region in Niagara Canada, and very much personally hope to visit those wineries next year.

The wines are the best we especially like ,hickory hollow, miles winery and the three brothers winery, we were not able to get the bone dancer wine at the winery as they only sell it at an outlet about an hour away very disappointed.
