Loved walking the grounds and Chora. The beautiful churches are all unique and positioned with a view. If you love history, fabulous.

You have to want to get to this great example of Byzantine architecture. It is not an easy place to find and it is on the end of a dirt road. Not the 'roughest' place to find by far, but still you need good shoes or hiking boots to climb around on these ruins. If you are looking for a place with a guide, marked monuments and safe passage - don't show up here! If you want to be blessed with magnificent views, fairly good ruins and the solitude of a lost location, this is the place. There are still some remaining frescoes in some of the buildings, and the ruins are interesting to climb around but beware of the edges of these cliffs. It is not a place for tour buses - a real plus - and few travelers. Chances are you will be here all by yourself. Go to the back of the ruins and look out over the canyons and cliffs toward the sea and the mainland. It is a scene you will not forget.

Liked the View.Did not like that noone is there to care for the entrance, there is no walkway/path, quite dangerous if you want to explore more

After a visit to the Sunday market of Potamos, we went to the abandoned village of Palaiochora for a walk and photo session amidst its ruins. You here nothing but the sound of a baby goat trying to find its way back to its mother. Pity that none of the churches are open for a visit, but the tree and benches at the entrance of the village make a great picnic spot.

Small warren of streets in the castle is so different from the imposing edifice looking out to the near-distant sea. Try and walk around it on the M1 hiking route to appreciate the walls

best view from the top so you can take photos.free entrance.castle is open from 09 in the morning to 8 in the afternoon.If the weather is too hot, it is better to be there around 10 in the morning.

Auch eine zweite Wanderung von Trifyllianika nach Palaiochora macht Spa?. Im Herbst überraschen die unz?hligen Cyclamen und Krokusse auf dem herrlichen Wanderweg und die Sonne ist in der Ruinenstadt nicht mehr so erbarmungslos. Und wieder beeindruckend die Schluchten rings um Palaiochora.
